Daily Life

I can't wait until Spring!!!! It's been so cold around here. After my Long Days post we kind of fell back into place and back into our normal 'groove'. I love being in the 'normal groove', don't you?

On Thursday we were able to get in some time at the park even though it was so cold. We headed out to the lake and had a great time. I have a special place in my heart for it. When I was younger we lived just a few minutes away from here. I can remember swinging on the swings and rolling down the hills. My Mom and I would drop my brother off here early in the mornings to fish and pick him up in the evenings. Seeing my own kids play here just makes it that much more special.

They love it too. It is truly beautiful here.

Aubrey may or may not grow up to be a plumber.

One of their favorite things to do is not play on the equipment but to run up and down the huge hills. I even joined in since I could feel Jillian Michaels evil eyes burning a hole in my thighs... and hips... So up and down I went while I carried Emma. It was a great workout, I definitely felt it the next day.

When we got home this beautiful goodness was waiting for us on the doorstep.

Betty Crocker? Don't mind if I do!!

Shut it Jillian, I do as I please!!!

Ehem, anyway. I signed up awhile back for a free sample from Betty Crocker. SWEET, not a sample, it's the real deal.

We got to work....

Ohhh they were so good.

Some other random things that I don't want to leave out:

Last Friday we had plans to meet up with our friends Julia and Sean at the pool. I was totally about to call off the plans when I had to squeeze myself into my bathing suit. IT... WAS....NOT...GOOD!

So there I am in my bathroom completely having it out with my bathing suit. We are going back and forth, it's not looking good for me, bathing suit is taking over and making me call it Daddy when out of nowhere Jillian Michaels gives me the strength I need to pull, stretch and contort it into place. Whew!

So off we went. I may have had the hugest wedgie known to mankind but I did not care and conveniently had packed a pair of shorts to cover up this ginormous wedgie. You are very welcome fellow pool go-ers.

I am so glad we went. We had the best time. The kids played and I got some very much needed adult conversation.

This was Emma's first experience actually playing in the pool. The other times she has been sleeping.
I could tell she loved it because she didn't make a sound the entire time!

Somewhere around the time this picture was taken Brandon came to me and said

'Mommy, I pee pee in waddderr??'

It was a question.

Before I could answer I saw him get very still...

The deed was done.

So sorry fellow pool go-ers. He had on a swim diaper but we all know those things only work for the poo's not the pee's.

Here's to hoping that they put enough chlorine in there to come close to dying your hair.

On Saturday my gal pal, sister from a different Mister, Jenny came over with her daughter and we had a fantastic evening in. Jenny seems to think it's cold in my house and makes sure to wear leggings under her actual pants. She also requires her daughter to change into her 'warm' pants before coming.

Whatevs Jenny, just 'cause you can see your breath in the air does not mean it's cold!!!

Oh wait, yes it does. WHATEVS!

Okay, for real, you can't really see your breath in the air but I do admit it aint no sauna up in here!

I hope you all have a great weekend!

Daily Life

This weather has been so crazy! One day we're huddled inside with three layers on and the next day we're outside with no jackets on. Monday was nice enough for us to spend some time outside.

This cute little guy is mine. I made him ... in my belly. Cute smile, button nose, yep that's all me (I guess I should give a little credit to the Hubby).

I can't get him off his mo'cycle as he calls it. It plays all kinds of songs but one of his favorites is 'I'm a Barbie Girl in a Barbie World'. Not kidding, he plays it as he goes up and down the sidewalks of our neighborhood.

Aubrey ended up getting 'The Stomach Rot' as I now refer to it. She spent most of Tuesday just like this on the couch. Thankfully, she was over it pretty quickly and was feeling much better by the end of the day.

We saw the first few real snowflakes of winter.

My baby is so close to rolling over. I'm having to remind myself to give her some time on the floor instead of carrying her around everywhere.

A few days this week it was so cold we were stuck inside cuddling under blankets. The kids were bouncing off walls and I was ready to pull my hair out. I was so happy to have a play date at the park yesterday while it was nice. Jenny and Ava, you saved us from the winter doldrums.

My baby sat in the sun and looked at me like this. If this isn't a sassy face I don't know what is. She looks like she's posin' for her Facebook picture.

Aubrey is on her way to reading. We have been working on 'at' words and I really think she is understanding the concept of putting sounds together.

She writes me cute little notes like this.

I'm loving the beautiful winter sunsets.

During some of the too cold for outside days we broke out some of the board games the kids received for Christmas.

Today we made Gak.

And this is where it ended up. Stuck to a blanket.

We spent the afternoon at the park and it was glorious. 65 in January, I'll take it!! Have a great weekend everyone.

Daily Life

What an interesting evening we have had so far! The kids had a surprise when my husbands best friend  showed up with some Christmas presents for them. Of course I forgot to get a picture but here is one from last Christmas.

Thanks Nick!

Brandon started getting super fussy and fell asleep at 5:30. I didn't think too much of it since it's been go, go, go for the last few days. He woke up about a half an hour later and was a big grouch so Daddy made him sit next to him on the couch while I started to make dinner. And by make dinner I mean eat and cook in between bites.
Since I'm shameless I'll show you my latest craving... Cream cheese... That's it. Just cream cheese. By the spoonful preferably. I can't stop people!!! HELP... I'm so sorry Jillian.

Anyway.... I made some plates for the kids and went to get Brandon off the couch to come eat and I noticed his arm was wet. Then I looked and saw that he had vomited all over the couch. Took him to the kitchen where he projectile vomited all over my floor. Yeah, it was bad. Poor guy, he was so upset. Rushed him to the bathroom and dunked him in the tub. I think he felt a lot better. After baths I tucked both kids in and read a book. His was asleep before I even left the room, which is unusual for him. I hope he's better tomorrow.

I also had another thing to add to my list of things to remember about this Christmas. About a week ago a commercial came on t.v. for toilet cleaner. Aubrey started getting excited and said 'Mommy, I know you want that for Christmas, I know you do"!!

That sad part... I really wouldn't mind getting toilet cleaner for Christmas, I would actually enjoy it. Apparently my kids know this.... Waaaahhaaa...what have I become? Hmmm... kinda reminds me of the days when we would get my Mom a vacuum cleaner or kitchen supplies. Oh, the glamorous life of a Mom, I love it.

Daily Life

Whew, we've been busy today and were able to get a lot of things checked off our 'to do list'. This morning we started by getting out all of our Christmas stuff. Hubby went outside to clean up our storage space and rearrange a few things so we could fit the giant T.V. that has been sitting in our living room in it. Brandon went outside with Daddy while I started cleaning up and making space for our tree. I was so thankful when Jerry came in with a Rubbermaid container full of baby/kids clothes. I thought that I had already combed through all of Aubreys old clothes to find winter pieces for Emma. Apparently I missed one so this was great to pull out a few more things that she could fit in.

Aubrey went outside to play, so me and my sweet li'l baby were left to ourselves. About a week and a half ago she couldn't even touch the floor when I put her in the bouncer. Now, she's not only touching the floor but she's bouncing! Wahhhhh, she's growing so fast!!! Here's a video, she was too busy smiling to really bounce.

Jerry finished with the lights outside. Apparently while he was busy with the lights the kids were getting filthy and finding worms in the mulch. Upstairs they went for a quick bath. Once everyone was clean we started with the tree. It was so fun seeing their expressions and excitement over the lights and all of the ornaments. It was so cute watching them put up ornaments. Brandon kept putting them all on the same branch and Aubrey just liked putting the hooks on.

This is our $20 tree we bought in our first apartment. Hubby has promised me a real tree when we move into our new home!

After we were finished with decorations and the tree we had some down time. Then we headed to the park. This weather has been crazy! It was 71 today in Virginia. Jerry headed to the small pond to fish while the kids and I headed to the skate park. They would much rather play on the skate park than the actual playground. This thing plus a bouncy ball equals fun for at least 45 minutes and exhausted kids! Win, win!

After that we headed over to the playground and to see how Hubby had done. He came over carrying this thing. As you can see he was very proud!

We throw all these fish back.

The kids played, he fished and everyone was happy. We came home so Hubby could show us his light show. He did a great job on the lights outside. I would post a picture but the one that I took barely came out. This was our life today and it was good.
