Why I Love Starbucks and EBay

If you have read my blog before you probably know that last spring I started selling things on Ebay to make some extra money.

Oh my! I loooove it! It's so much fun and I can do it in my PJ's!

I wanted to share with you my best sale so far.

I was in a small thrift store in my hometown just browsing and trying to find some inventory. I always scan the coffee mugs because some of them can sell very well and they're just fun to look at. Who doesn't love coffee??

So there I am and I just happen to catch a glimpse of a nice thick mug that looks like it could bring in a profit. I pry it off the back rack and was delighted to see it was a Starbucks cup.

I myself rarely go to Starbucks but I know that a lot of people love it and also collect Starbucks mugs. The mugs feature different cities and countries around the world and apparently from what I read you can only by a city mug in that exact city.

So I scooped it up not knowing if it would actually bring a profit or not but willing to take the chance.

Guess how much I paid for it?? GUESS!

.50 cents!!!

So I get home and I start researching to see if I had picked up a winner or a dud. After a few minutes it looked as if this cup was definitely a dud. There had been a few to sell here and there but none with any major profit.

So I set it down and went on to do something else. Later that day for some reason I picked it up again and decided to do some research one last time.

Thank you God!

This mug was from Seattle and looked a whole lot like a different mug that was also from Seattle. When I had first looked it up I had gotten it confused with the other mug. So the second time I found the actual mug that I had purchased and I almost fainted.

The last mug of this kind to sell, sold for

$199!!!!!!!

I was pretty much doing back flips by this point and could not wait to get this thing listed for auction.

I went ahead and did a 7 day auction. I was hoping to get $200, hoping! Mine was the only mug for sale at the time so I thought it was possible.

As the bidding started going up I started doing a little happy dance. Hubby and I could not stop checking the computer to see what the highest bid currently was.

Finally as the listing ended I was overjoyed to see my mug sold for....

$280!!!!!!!!!!!

I kid you not!! My .50 cent thrift store investment made me a huuuuuge profit!!

Not only that but the buyer even payed their own shipping charges.

Ever since then Ebay and I have been in luuurve!

So, if you ever see this mug anywhere

CALL ME!!!

What's New...

My sweet baby has been sick! Last week she started with a fever on and off. I thought it was must have just been a virus since it went away over the weekend.

When it started coming back this week, hubby and I immediately knew what it was.

Urinary Tract Infection.

This is the first time Emma has ever had one but Aubrey has had a few. I'm shaming myself because I should have realized last week what it was.

She had the same symptoms that Aubrey gets. On and off fever, excessive drinking and urinating, tiredness. I'm so mad at myself for not realizing it sooner but I thought 'no way, she's only 1'.

Of course getting a UTI has no age limits.

Aubrey has had 2 severe UTI's and for the second she needed antibiotic injections in both legs to shut it down. The next day she had a renal ultrasound and thank God everything checked out okay.

Did I mention I hate giving the kids antibiotics?? I am very stingy with medication but I know it's what she needed.

So Emma is getting oral antibiotics once a day. She has already started feeling better which makes me happy but every time I have gone to the Dr. for this problem I get so scared.

Especially when the Dr starts talking about kidney scarring and urinary reflux.

I'm so thankful that Aubrey has not had one for over a year now!!

So now I get to worry about Emma.

Do you know how difficult it is trying to get urine from a one year old? I crawled behind her all morning holding a small cup between her legs -- NOTHING!!

Thankfully someone out there knows what it's like and invented a cool little contraption that you can just stick around those parts that has a bag attached.

I just don't get why it's happening, especially when it has affected both my girls. She has a follow up appointment in 2 weeks and I'm really going to quiz the Dr. on why he thinks it may be happening and if there is anything we can do about it. I'm trying not to freak out because I know it's not uncommon at all.

On another note, Aubrey may need glasses. She failed her eye exam that the school gave her. She also didn't do too well on the exam at her last wellness visit.

My eyesight is pretty good but Hubby is supposed to wear glasses even though he never does.

Have a great evening everyone, I'm off to relax!!

I Love Wooden Toys

Here lately I have a thing for wooden toys. The kids love them, I love them.

They are so durable and pretty much indestructible.

They never need batteries or produce annoying noises.

They are great for any age range. This wooden train set has been a big hit with all of the kids.

This Noah's Arc Wooden Shape Sorter is another one that all the kids enjoy. The animals are nice and chunky, perfect for baby hands.

Brandon and Emma were playing so well together!
