3 Months Old

My baby is 3 months old today!! Time is flying, can I hit the pause button? Developing this baby was hard work, having this baby was even harder but the payoff is extremely worth it in every way. She makes me smile and laugh every day. Kissing those baby cheeks is all I want to do.

After her first bath.

Emma, this is you!
-You smile all the time now
-You laugh! Not giggling yet but you will laugh
-You can jump in your jumper
-Yesterday you started reaching out at things. When you sit in your jumper you will reach out and touch the toys and today you reached out and grabbed my shirt
-You try to get my attention by smiling and cooing
-You love to watch Aubrey and Brandon
-You smile at Daddy as soon as you see him
-You usually go to sleep at around 6:30 p.m.
-At around 10p.m. you usually wake up for about 20 minutes to eat and we have some Mommy Daughter time where I get you all to myself
-You wake up again around 4a.m. to eat
-In the morning you are up around 7:30
-Your hair sticks up like a rooster tail
-You look like a little angel when you sleep
-You still like to be swaddled
-You have bad gas! And sorry baby, but it's starting to get a li'l stinky!
-Last but certainly  not least! Emma, you poop on all your clothes, I'm not kidding. You always find a way to get poop stains that Mommy can't get out on all your nice sleepers. Especially the white ones!!

Sweet baby.

I love you sweet little feet.

Emma, you have completed our family and we are so thankful for you!

Interview with Emma

ME: Emma, how are you feeling today because you look stunning!
EMMA: Ahhh Goooo
ME: Hmm...intresting. Now, where did you get that cute li'l smile from, Mommy or Daddy?
EMMA: Ehhhhh Waaaaa
ME: Oh Emma, you're too sweet. Now how about the finger toe thing you've got going on.
EMMA: 'Coughs'
ME: Yeah, I was thinking Daddy too. Now how about that adorable double chin and the cutest ever triple
thigh roll. Hmm... you know what Emma, you don't have to answer that last one. I just remembered
that I have to go do Jillian Michaels 30 Day Shred now!

Story of My Life

I love you pinterest, can we be BFF's?

Magic of Christmas

Last week Santa personally delivered a card to our doorstep while we were at the park. Aubrey was ecstatic. I don't know if Brandon even realized there was a card, he can be oblivious at times. Especially when there is food around, or cookies, especially cookies. I had ordered this card from Tiny Prints for the kids. On the inside it says that Santa is watching and they need to continue to listen to Mommy and Daddy and all that mumbo jumbo. It worked out perfectly because apparently the card was too big to fit in the mailbox so the mail carrier set it on our doorstep. When we got home even I was surprised to see it waiting. Aubrey was jumping for joy and just kept saying ' how did Santa do that'. I'm so excited for this Christmas, I feel like Aubrey really 'gets' it now and it's like I'm reliving the magic of Christmas again.

Daily Life

Whew, we've been busy today and were able to get a lot of things checked off our 'to do list'. This morning we started by getting out all of our Christmas stuff. Hubby went outside to clean up our storage space and rearrange a few things so we could fit the giant T.V. that has been sitting in our living room in it. Brandon went outside with Daddy while I started cleaning up and making space for our tree. I was so thankful when Jerry came in with a Rubbermaid container full of baby/kids clothes. I thought that I had already combed through all of Aubreys old clothes to find winter pieces for Emma. Apparently I missed one so this was great to pull out a few more things that she could fit in.

Aubrey went outside to play, so me and my sweet li'l baby were left to ourselves. About a week and a half ago she couldn't even touch the floor when I put her in the bouncer. Now, she's not only touching the floor but she's bouncing! Wahhhhh, she's growing so fast!!! Here's a video, she was too busy smiling to really bounce.

Jerry finished with the lights outside. Apparently while he was busy with the lights the kids were getting filthy and finding worms in the mulch. Upstairs they went for a quick bath. Once everyone was clean we started with the tree. It was so fun seeing their expressions and excitement over the lights and all of the ornaments. It was so cute watching them put up ornaments. Brandon kept putting them all on the same branch and Aubrey just liked putting the hooks on.

This is our $20 tree we bought in our first apartment. Hubby has promised me a real tree when we move into our new home!

After we were finished with decorations and the tree we had some down time. Then we headed to the park. This weather has been crazy! It was 71 today in Virginia. Jerry headed to the small pond to fish while the kids and I headed to the skate park. They would much rather play on the skate park than the actual playground. This thing plus a bouncy ball equals fun for at least 45 minutes and exhausted kids! Win, win!

After that we headed over to the playground and to see how Hubby had done. He came over carrying this thing. As you can see he was very proud!

We throw all these fish back.

The kids played, he fished and everyone was happy. We came home so Hubby could show us his light show. He did a great job on the lights outside. I would post a picture but the one that I took barely came out. This was our life today and it was good.

What We're Eating

Breakfast: Pumpkin Smoothies

Can I just say that I love having smoothies for breakfast! Fast, easy and healthy. When I was in my early 20's I went on 'The Abs Diet'. I had a smoothie at least once a day and loved it. They are so good and very easy to make your own recipies. This smoothie consisted of bananas, pumpkin, oatmeal, yogurt, milk, cinnamon and ice. Kids loved it, hubby loved it so it will be put into the breakfast rotation.

Lunch: Pizza Roll-ups

Yes, that's my crusty cookie sheet. Don't hate.

Crescent rolls, pepperoni, mozzarella cheese. Could you ask for anything more? These were devoured in a matter of minutes. Maybe not so healthy but who cares, they're good! So good, I wrote a poem about them:

Oooey Gooey cheese,
Can I have more of you please?
Pepperoni, I love this meat,
Too bad you're made of pork butt and feet.
Crescent roll you make a crunch,
Pizza roll up, I'm so happy I had you for lunch.

Dinner: Outback with family.

So, that's what we were eating today. Sorry about the butt part but it's true.

Bums!

Hmm... something's up today. Brandon who hasn't been napping since summer passed out in mid tumble.

Then, I look over and my sweet baby who will only sleep when held or swaddled as tight as can be was fast asleep in her bouncer.

Can I get a woop woop!

The Plan

For the most part I like to plan. I like to know what I'm going to be doing and what time I'm doing it. Needless to say my plans rarely, if ever go the way they should. This was the plan for today -

-Go to story time
-Get Christmas decorations out
-Clean up the entire house which is a complete mess
-Work on letters and sounds with Aubrey
-Fold and put away laundry
-Make cookies while we sing carols while making paper snowflakes and everyone is a complete angel and no one cries/pouts/pushes/hits/pulls/complains.

This is how the day actually went

-Wanted to go to story time but they decided not to have it today...something about it being the day after Thanksgiving
-Did NOT get Christmas decorations out
-Did NOT clean up entire house
-Did work on letters and sounds with Aubrey
-Did fold and put away some laundry
-PSHHH, you know we didn't do that last one. Instead we went to the park for 2 plus hours where I got to catch up with some old friends from high school. The kids got to go wild on the playground. At some point in the middle Aubrey came begging for a drink and since the water fountain at the playground was broken I told her to go to the bathroom and scoop some water in her hands and drink. Ummm, yeah that's just how the Testa family rolls. Later I was informed that this is how that went down:

Note - This is not actually Aubrey and said friend.

Note to self: teach Aubrey that friends are not for standing on and next time bring a water bottle.

So, things may not have gone according to plan but my kids were happy and I was feeling less stressed so all in all I'd say today was a success. I think tomorrow will be a perfect day for getting out those Christmas decorations and our tree! Well...that's the plan anyway!

I am Thankful

It's been a wonderful Thanksgiving. The best part about it was that I didn't have to cook and I was able to spend it with family. Unfortunately hubby had to work but the kids and I went over to Grandmas so share the day with her and Poppa Ted. I have so many things to be thankful for this Thanksgiving but at the top of the list are God, family and friends. I do my best to be thankful on every day of the year but especially on this day.

God has blessed me in so many ways. He has provided a fulfilling life for me and for that I am truly thankful. I am healthy, my children are healthy and my husband is healthy. We have food to eat and warm beds to lie in. We have loving family and friends all around us and we have a future that is bright and beautiful that we look forward to living every day.

This was my Mom today holding my sweet baby. There is something special about seeing your Mom hold your child. Happy Thanksgiving everyone I am thankful for all of you.

Big Scare

I was going to write a post of what our day was like but something happened that stopped me in my tracks. I came home and turned on the computer only to find a virus. I went ahead and scanned with Malware and was able to remove the infected files. I restarted like I was prompted to. When my computer came back up I was shocked to find all of my photos/videos/files gone. I was left with nothing.
I could have cried. I almost did. 5 years worth of photos and videos gone. For hours I tried to find them to no avail. Finally I seeked out my friend google and started researching. I found a couple of things online and was able to download some software to bring everything back. Apparently the virus had 'hidden' all my files and that's why nothing would come up.
I am so thankful that they are all back. I know I shouldn't take so much stock in a photo but to me they are precious memories that could never be replaced. I think of my kids when they are older being able to look at these pictures and see things they may not remember. The way Mommy or Daddy held them when they were little or the small things we did that I may not be able to remember in 20 years. But a picture holds that memory forever, never to be forgotten.
Lesson learned!!! I have already started backing up all my photo albums and plan to continue until they are all online. This may take awhile but it is sooooo worth it! After this all happened of course I went through some of the albums just to look and remember. Had to share at least a few!

Brandon at just a few weeks old, already laughing at Daddy.

Hmm, I think this one is self explanatory!

My Baby

This is my baby today, sweet and precious in every way. She is smiley and cute and you just want to hold her close and give her kisses all day long. She is the last baby my body will ever produce and I just can't get enough of her. I'm looking at her picture and thinking of her and I can't help but feel nostalgic about the fact that I will never have another baby look at me and see 'Mommy'. Another baby will never depend on me the way she does, never get their food from my body. I'll never again have sleepless nights with just me and a newborn sitting in the glow of the T.V. while I nurse them and look into their eyes.
I am trying so hard to enjoy her in every way but that voice inside my head keeps creeping up and whispering 'she is growing, she is changing'. And then my mind goes crazy and I see her going to kindergarten, graduating, moving out, meeting boys... I love seeing my kids grow but there is that part of me inside who just wants to hold on to that baby and see those little feet and hands and smell that sweet breath. Oh God, don't get me started on the baby breath.
I know it must sound silly for me to be saying this since she isn't even 3 months old yet but the voice is true because, she is growing and she is changing. I will never get these days back, they are gone forever only to be looked at in photographs and videos.
Now that I'm all sentimental I think I'll go cuddle my baby and drink in that sweet breath and kiss those baby toes and hands. Aubrey, Brandon and Emma -

I'll love you forever,
I'll like you for always,
As long as I'm living,
My baby you'll be.

Time Warp!

Five years ago, this girl and I were dreaming of what our sweet little babies were going to look like and planning their arrival.

We were so excited that our babies were going to be so close in age (only weeks apart).

This picture makes me laugh every time. Only a few weeks old and already great friends. Anyway, fast forward 5 years and we have still maintained our friendship and our kids love to play together. Today was a special day because Sean got to come spend the day with us. The kids were so excited to see him and be able to have a playmate for the day. I thougth I'd log just what our day was like .
We started off with breakfast. At around 8:30 we headed down the street to our neighborhood playground. Please be advised that my kids had the pleasure of dressing themselves this morning and I'm not liable if my daughters outfit causes you to have a seizure. Let's just say pink and green will never be friends... EVER.

After about an hour and a half of this:

We were ready to go... okay, I was ready to go and bribed them to come with me. After lunch we had some crafting time. The kids got out our 'recycling bin', basically a basket with random craft items mixed with cardboard, paper, plastics and got to work. This actually occupied them for a good hour and this is what we came up with,

Say what? Can't figure out what they are? They're castles people, castles! After that they had random playtime which included me blowing up balloons until I was ready to pass out while they laughed hysterically. Back outside we went to spend the rest of the day. Kids got out the chalk and went to work!

Aubrey and Sean worked together to make this and then filled me in that it was an elephant drinking water. Cute huh!?
We were so happy to have Sean here and I just can't help but remember them as babies and thinking about how fast time has flown by. Julia, our babies are not babies anymore!!! And I just had to post this last picture because whenever I look at Sean, this is what I see.

About This Blog

I've finally done it! Starting a blog has been something I've been thinking about for a few months now. Mainly to document my life as a Mom of 3 beautiful kids and 1 awesome husband and to update family and friends on what we've been up to. It seems lately I've found myself thinking about when my oldest child was just a baby and wondering 'what in the world did we do all day?'.  Now I won't have to wonder and it will be great to have something to look back on and show my kids as they get older. So here is my life as Mom, Wife, Daughter and Friend.
