My Baby Is 4 Months Old (almost)

Emma is 4 months old tomorrow!!! Time is flying sweet baby girl. I took her to a Dr.s appointment on Tuesday, she was 15.11 lbs. No wonder I can't stop eating, I have to supply Chubbs with her 3 course meals. Emma, this is you right now:

You are a leaky faucet, the drool is taking over!

You love to pull my hair.

You have mad jumping skills.

You are not rolling over yet, only onto your side.

When you get excited you wiggle!

You give me hugs and curl into me.

You chew on anything you can get your hands on.

You are a homebody and will get fussy when you are somewhere different.

You have been staring at my food and trying to take it out of my hand for a few weeks. I've been giving you a little of this and that but today we sat you down and gave you some bananas. I will be making my own baby food. So today I just mashed up a ripe banana really well.

This is pretty much how that went down. It was kinda like Fear Factor baby style with bananas instead of meal worms.

You would take a bite and then push about 3/4 of it back out.

Then look at me like I was crazy.

Then you would look at Daddy and scream for help, with your eyes.

My Mamma's crazy! HELP!

Overall it went well! Now Mommy has to get to work building you a baby food stockpile 'cause we know how you like to eat!

In other news, Brandon was sick again overnight but has kept everything down since then. He's still been a little fussy today but I think he's getting over it.

Now Hubby seems to be getting a little sick. So, I'm taking advantage of him not being able to get off the couch by popping in a chick flick and forcing him to watch it with me. HAHA SUCKA!

'The Help' here we come!!!

Daily Life

What an interesting evening we have had so far! The kids had a surprise when my husbands best friend  showed up with some Christmas presents for them. Of course I forgot to get a picture but here is one from last Christmas.

Thanks Nick!

Brandon started getting super fussy and fell asleep at 5:30. I didn't think too much of it since it's been go, go, go for the last few days. He woke up about a half an hour later and was a big grouch so Daddy made him sit next to him on the couch while I started to make dinner. And by make dinner I mean eat and cook in between bites.
Since I'm shameless I'll show you my latest craving... Cream cheese... That's it. Just cream cheese. By the spoonful preferably. I can't stop people!!! HELP... I'm so sorry Jillian.

Anyway.... I made some plates for the kids and went to get Brandon off the couch to come eat and I noticed his arm was wet. Then I looked and saw that he had vomited all over the couch. Took him to the kitchen where he projectile vomited all over my floor. Yeah, it was bad. Poor guy, he was so upset. Rushed him to the bathroom and dunked him in the tub. I think he felt a lot better. After baths I tucked both kids in and read a book. His was asleep before I even left the room, which is unusual for him. I hope he's better tomorrow.

I also had another thing to add to my list of things to remember about this Christmas. About a week ago a commercial came on t.v. for toilet cleaner. Aubrey started getting excited and said 'Mommy, I know you want that for Christmas, I know you do"!!

That sad part... I really wouldn't mind getting toilet cleaner for Christmas, I would actually enjoy it. Apparently my kids know this.... Waaaahhaaa...what have I become? Hmmm... kinda reminds me of the days when we would get my Mom a vacuum cleaner or kitchen supplies. Oh, the glamorous life of a Mom, I love it.

Christmas Recap

They laughed....they cried. They hopped on one foot and danced all around. My kids had an amazing Christmas.

My kitchen table looks like Santa's sack exploded on it. I have been putting things away on and off for the last 2 days but I keep getting sidetracked by all the goodies in my kitchen. They are calling my name and I won't stop until they are all gone!

Our family is so blessed in so many ways, the time we were able to spend with family will forever be cherished in my own memory as well as my babies. Here are a few things that I want to remember about this Christmas :

My husband helping me wrap gifts while we watched our fav show Gold Rush. It was almost as good as a night out together.

Brandon waking up on Christmas morning and after I reminded him that it was Christmas he told me he heard Santa's sleigh bells from his bed.

I made the kids wait upstairs while I came down and turned on the tree lights and started some Christmas music before I let them come down.

They were so amazed to see Santa footprints and that he had eaten 2 cookies and left one.

Then Brandon walked over and ate the last cookie. That was so Brandon.

This wrapping paper:

Holding my baby while she pulled at the paper.

Someone leaving a package on our doorstep. I still have no idea who did this!

The kids enjoying handing out presents almost as much as opening them.

I know in years to come it will not matter what they received for Christmas. What will matter is who they spent it with and how it made them feel. I can't say it enough but I am so thankful for our little family as well as Grandparents, Aunts, Uncles and Cousins. It is what makes Christmas, Christmas.

A Little Bit of Everything!

Ohh, Emm, Gee!! Can you believe tomorrow is Christmas Eve?? I'm kind of in shock, usually I'm pretty prepared for Christmas but this year it has snuck up on me. Last night I put my oldest 2 kids to bed and went out in the pouring rain with my sweet li'l lady to do some shopping. We went to Walmart (twice), Target and Kohls. Sometimes I think waiting until he last minute has it's perks. We found some good deals!

This morning, I went out again to finish up. After I got home I started to realize that I had forgotten to get the annoying small things. Things like gift boxes and gift bags. I'm going to have to run out again at some point. Not to mention I have not wrapped one single thing. Whew!!

I feel like I haven't really gotten to enjoy the Christmas spirit this year yet, so I'm promising myself that tomorrow I'm going to put away any worries, push my thoughts aside and concentrate on the true meaning of Christmas and my family.

In other news...

I found these awesome Cookie Tray Kits at the Dollar Tree. Everything you need to make a cute package. Also on a side note, I am LOVING the Dollar Tree!! They have everything!

I used them for none other than Christmas Crack and some chocolate covered pretzels that I made. I sent these off with Jerry for some of his fav co-workers.

Brandon was a Fireman up top, Princess down low.

If you can't tell, that's a high heeled princess shoe.

This is Emma...

She is not playin' around in that thing! She is bouncing so hard I had to put her tennis shoes on, don't want my baby spraining an ankle.

She is also smiling up a storm and starting to giggle.

Stickers, stickers, everywhere...

We had a cute visitor. I put him to work making me cookies.

Are these considered cookies?
Someone left the tag on one.

These candy cane kisses were sooo good. Hubby caught me sneaking them in the kitchen. I cried and said sorry candy cane kisses, I just can't quit you... and then continued to eat. He accused me of hiding them, but they were not hidden. All you had to do was lift up the stack of papers and unfold the Target bag they were in!!! Whatevs Hub, whatevs.

Love all these Christmas movies that are on. Especially enjoying the antics of Clark Griswold.

We made these M&M cookies this afternoon. We are going to eat a few and then save a few for Santa tomorrow night.

The kids have both learned to peel their own clementines. THANK GOODNESS! I was getting so tired of having to peel oranges all day long. On the other hand, now they wont stop and spend most of their day peeling by the trash can. I've had to hide the rest of them and ration them out.

Looks  like someone got lazy.

I'll be back tomorrow (hopefully) with one more post before Christmas! For now, I'm off to wrap presents while watching a movie with my hubby.

Dear Jillian Michaels

Dear Jillian Michaels,

How come I've been workin' out for more than 30 days and I'm not shredded??

How come yesterday I tried to put one of my old cute tops on and couldn't get it off!?

How come my kids laughed at me while I contorted my body in an effort to get said top off?

How come my 4 year old had to pull with all her body weight to pry the top off of me??

How come I'm still wearing my maternity clothes!!!?

How come when I do a jumping jack .... okay, not going to finish that one...

How come I still get winded when I run up the stairs?

How come I have nightmares about you?

How come even when I tell myself I'm not going to do my workout for the day I can feel your evil eyes burning into me, forcing me to do it anyway!!!

Your frienemy,

How to Explain Death to a Child

There should be a question mark at the end of the title because I'm trying to figure out the answer myself. As a child I can remember being so afraid that people I loved were going to pass away. I don't know where that fear came from.

How do you explain death to a 4 year old without planting fear?

My Aunt passed away. Today was her funeral service. I wasn't sure what to tell Aubrey. There have been a few instances where we have discussed death and heaven in a very child friendly way. I decided to try to make it as simple as I could. Before we left I told her that Grandmas sister had died and went to heaven to be with Jesus. She asked me if we were going to die too, I told her a simple 'no, not for a long time'. She seemed okay with that and didn't say too much after. I thought it probably just went over her head and she just didn't get it.

We went to the service and as we left she questioned what the casket was. We went to the cemetery to say a final goodbye, she was fine as she stood by her Grandmas side. Still I thought that she really didn't get it.

We sat down in the car and started to pull away and from the back seat she asks me

Mommy, I thought we were going to see Grandmas sister.

Well, hunny she has already passed away and went to heaven.

I know that. I thought we were going to get to see her rise up.

I told her that my Aunt had already risen, we just didn't get to see it.

Please send prayers to my family, especially my Aunts children, grandchildren and sisters.

A Christmas Party

I was invited to a Christmas party on Saturday. It did not require a fancy dress or high heeled shoes, pajamas and slippers were just fine. I didn't have to do my hair or even brush it for that matter. There were no cocktails or 5 star meals. Music was simply listening to Christmas carols from the computer.

My kids brought toys out of corners and toy chests and made a mess of huge proportions. As I sat there I could feel my anxiety start to rise as I thought of the mess that I was going to have to clean up. Just when I was about to order them to stop my daughter came over and and whispered 'Mommy, we're having a party and it's for you'. I could feel my anxiety wash away and it was quickly replaced with the love and joy that only a child can give.

How often do I do this, I asked myself. How often do I let my emotion take over before I even give my children the chance to give me joy? Probably more often than I should.

I made sandwiches and chips and we sat on the floor at our party to eat them. I sat down and I enjoyed my kids company. No worrying about messes or when it was getting cleaned up. We had a great time, there was dancing and singing and my kids were so happy ... and so was I.

Nailed IT!

Oh hello, have you met my BFF Pinterest?? Pinterest and I have a love hate relationship (mostly love). Pinterest, you make me ha ha ha. So in honor of you I have created my own 'Nailed It' photo, a favorite of mine.

Here are some of my favs. The Origami Nazgul. Hmmm... It looks like they almost, kinda, maybe, sorta did something right. But mostly NO.

My personal fav. The Cookie Monster Cupcake, this is hilarious!! I give major props to the Mom who tried to pull this one off.

And then there is this. My own personal 'Nailed It' photo. I'm very sorry Aubrey, one day I will learn how to french braid, just not today... Nailed it.

The kids have been looking forward to this day for weeks. We were going to see Santa. We woke up this morning and put our procrastination skills to work. At 9:45 I figured it was time to pull it together and get ready. Finally a half an hour later it was time to go. I went to grab the keys until I realized, I was still in my pajama pants and poop/spit up/other random stained shirt! Good job me! I ran to my room, pulled out some (real) pants and a sweater and got them on. I ran to the bathroom to check out my hair ...

This was staring back at me:

I quickly did some Mommy Mathematics in my head -

3 cute kids
+ 1 jacked up Mommy
Evens Out

Okay... good I told myself, I'm covered.

Off to the library we went to meet Santa. The librarians did such an awesome job and the kids loved it. As soon as they came in the door they each got a ticket for the Polar Express and then the conductors came around to punch their tickets. They read the book and then Santa made his appearance.

This Santa was amazing!

After weeks of hyping this kid up and repeatedly asking him 'are you going to sit on Santa's lap' and him saying 'NO'. I was shocked to see him walk right into Santa's arms.

Aubrey of course couldn't wait to get up.

And then it was Emma's turn...

Oh Emma, I love you. She took one look at those white curls and started screaming at the top of her lungs!

It was cute anyway! In honor of seeing Santa today here are some pics from previous years :

Aubrey's first Christmas.

Her second Christmas.

Brandon's first Christmas.

And... last year. Uhh yeahhh, Brandon was not happy!

Have a great weekend everyone!
